Halifax Business Council
Objective
- To promote the interests of member organizations with respect to India and trade development/export development and investment attraction to Atlantic Canada
- To provide a platform for networking for businesses and professionals with a vested interest in India
- To provide learning opportunities through presentations, guest speakers, seminars and by disseminating trade information related to India
- To become the first point of contact for inquiries related to doing business in India for Atlantic Canadian firms and vice-versa

Venkatesh Thyagarajan is a Certified Management Consultant, currently on an assignment with the Port of Halifax. He has several years of experience in various management roles and has an MBA from St. Mary’s University, Halifax.
He is an active member of the business community and the Indo Canadian community in Halifax. He currently Chairs the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce’s Halifax Business Council and is also on the Board of Directors for Canadian Association of Management Consultants – Atlantic Canada. He has a thorough understanding of the economy of Nova Scotia and serves as a link between businesses in Atlantic Canada and India. In the last year, he assisted the Port of Halifax with an incoming trade mission from India in setting up business match making meetings and he has organized several meetings to promote the businesses interested in doing business with India. He is also a volunteer with MS Society, Metropolitan Immigrants Settlement Association (MISA) and is the president of East Coast Raconteurs Toastmasters club.

Tarun Biju - Director
Tarun is a Senior Project Manager with SNC-Lavalin and is currently working with several provincial bodies on trade development. In particular, he is working with the Department of Environment and they have some interests with respect to India. Tarun is also the recipient of the 2007 Citizenship Award from APENS, for his outstanding contribution to the local community.

John Ludovice - Director
John is the Business Development-Emerging Markets Lead of Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) responsible for investment attraction initiatives of leading companies in Emerging Markets/Asia to Nova Scotia, Canada. NSBI is the business development agency of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. John’s business experience includes holding local and regional management positions in General Management, Sales and Trade Marketing from Unilever, URC and Monsanto. Prior to moving to Canada, John was formerly General Manager-Southeast Asia of Merisant, formerly Monsanto’s Consumer Food
Division. Born in the Philippines, he has a B.S. Business Economics degree from the University of the Philippines. He also attended the Stanford Executive Program for Growing Companies (SEPGC) in Stanford University. John now lives with his wife and five children in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada.
